Each week there are a number of community groups that take place a Smawthorne Community Church, offering places of connection and support.

Bereavement Support
First & Third Friday of every month, 12.30pm to 2.30pm
The Bereavement Support Group is a great place to find people who care and understand. Bereavement is different for everyone and this group aims to offer a place where anyone who has experienced bereavement can go.
Memory Lane Cafe
First & Third Friday of every month, 10am to 12pm
Memory Lane Cafe is designed for all those affected by dementia. This is a safe place where both those with dementia and their careers can gain support from a wider group. Two hours with hot coffee, cake and friends.
Becats Group
Every Tuesday, 10am to 12pm
Becats is an external group who have been using the building at Smawthorne Community Church for over ten years. They run a great group which brings people together to chat, play games and often go on trips together.Becats charges attendees £2 per session.
Mens Group
Alternate Wednesdays, 10am to 12pm
For over ten years Martin has been running the Mens Group at Smawthorne Community Church. Its a group where men of all ages can come together to socialise and play a variety of games.
Friendship Group
Last Friday of every month, 12.30pm to 2.30pm
Our Friendship Group meets every month over tea, coffee and cake. Whether you are new to Castleford or are looking for somewhere to go, this is a great group for meeting new people and making friends.
