Our team

	Phil Pastor Alongside his wife Janette, Phil pastors Smawthorne church. He's a registered medical practitioner, and was partner in a local GP practice until recently retiring. Both roles involve caring for people, something Phil is passionate about. Janette and Phil have 3 grown up children and 2 grandsons. They love spending time with their family. Phil's a proud Yorkshireman and enjoys sport, particularly Rugby, football, tennis and golf. He's also keen on history.
	Janette Pastor Janette pastors Smawthorne church alongside her husband Phil; her passion is to see people find Jesus and grow in their relationship with him. Janette also volunteers at the local hospice providing spiritual support for people with a terminal diagnosis. Family is very important to Janette and she enjoys activities which allow her to express her creative side, such as gardening, baking and crafts. She also loves films and reading.
	Stephen Elder & Deputy Safeguarding Coordinator Stephen has been at Smawthorne since 2019. He's married to Leah, who along with Stephen will often serving on a Sunday and together they have a young daughter. Stephen has a degree in Applied Theology and Missional Leadership and has served various churches within the Apostolic Church movement throughout the UK. He has a passion for the local church & believes everyone can find their God given purpose through a real and active relationship with God.
	Richard Leadership Team Richard has been part of the Smawthorne family for many years. He's married to Hollie and on a Sunday can often be seen leading the music. Richard has a passion for worship and teaching the Bible, and has completed the Apostolic Church Baton Leadership course. In his spare time, Richard loves spending time with Hollie and playing cricket.
	Simon Relational Apostle Originally from Bradford, Simon has a background as a Solicitor. He now pastors Oakwood Church in Taunton. Simon is ordained as an Apostle & serves on the National Leadership Team of the Apostolic Church. He is married to Melleny and they have two young children. He loves every kind of sport and enjoys a wide variety of music.
	Angela Lead Safeguarding Coordinator A long standing member of Smawthorne Community Church, Angela currently serves as the safeguarding lead ensuring proper safeguarding practice is followed. She is married to Graham and has two sons. Angela has lived in the Pontefract area for many years and works for the NHS.
	Denise Kids Church Lead Denise is married to Pete and has been a Christian for almost 30 years, helping with childrens ministry during much of that time. Denise likes to spend time with her family and friends, and recently has taken an interest in gardening and growing flowers.
