Reaching up! ........ Reaching out!
There has been an Apostolic Church in Castleford since 1919 when people came from mainstream denominations to join with a new and exciting
Pentecostal group known as the Apostolic Church. We are still very much an exciting Pentecostal group, who believe and move in the spiritual realm.
In the Early days the church would meet together in homes (cottage meetings) where they would pray together, study the bible and share breaking of bread. Later they began to meet in a small hall at Briggs' Field in the Ashton Road area of Castleford.
Over the years the church would meet in rented halls in different parts of the town before it became established in its present
location on Beancroft Road where we have been for more than 70 years.
During this time we have gained a great deal of respect within the local community.
We have a passion for proactive community outreach, particularly with young people, single parents and the elderly.
We are also a PENTECOSTAL Church. We believe in the power and authority of God's Holy Spirit to empower us so that we can proclaim the gospel to its greatest effect through the gifts of the Holy Spirit and through revelation of biblical teaching.
We are an EVANGELICAL Church. That means we believe that Jesus Christ has given us a mission to preach the gospel of salvation to everyone. We believe that the gospel is the power of God to bring salvation to all who receive it by faith and put their trust in Jesus Christ. Through the gospel we receive forgiveness for our sins and the hope of eternal life.
We are an APOSTOLIC CHURCH. In other words we try to emulate the Church structure given to us by he Apostle Paul in his letter to the Ephesians (Ephesians 4:1-11) and demonstrated for us in the new testament book The Acts Of The Apostles. We believe that God gives to the Church men who through the Holy Spirit are able to help people live out the Christian life and find a place to serve others in the Church community..
Finally, we are a WORSHIPING CHURCH, encouraging one another to follow Jesus teaching and worship God in spirit and in truth. Our worship is contemporary, and tends to be joyful, energetic and lively.
